David J. Hinson writes songs for people who didn't get there early.
Based in Springfield, Missouri, his music leans into heartland rock and Americana without trying to reinvent either. The focus is on clear writing, strong melodies, and letting the details carry the weight.
After decades spent building a career, raising a family, and living a full life outside of music, Hinson returned to songwriting with a different perspective — less performative urgency, less interest in polishing things that don't need it. The songs reflect that. They move at their own pace and trust the listener to keep up.
His debut EP, Better Late Than Never (released March 19, 2026), sits in the space between forward motion and looking back. The songs deal with time, missed turns, and the realization that moving on isn’t always clean or obvious. It's reflective without leaning on nostalgia, and direct without trying to make a point out of everything.
