Donna Padgett Bowers was born into music—her father was a singer, songwriter, and promoter, and she began performing at just four years old under the name “Little Red.” Since then, her lifelong passion for music has taken her from glee clubs, church choirs, and dinner theaters to radio and television programs, hotel performances, and numerous bands and duets.
While living in Kansas City, Kansas, Donna launched Red Star Promotions and Bad Penny Productions, both of which she brought back to Memphis upon returning home. In 2002, she married Danny “Doc” Bowers, and together they have built a vibrant creative legacy—opening the Painted Planet Artspace (art gallery), The Phoenix (music venue), Memphis Artists Recording Studio – MARS (recording studio), and producing The Memphis Tonight Show on ABC24. They also enjoyed an 11-month performance run at Elvis Presley’s Graceland.
In addition to her many ventures, Donna hosts a radio show on Radio Memphis and maintains three weekly performance residencies at Rockhouse Live, Jackie Mae’s Place, and Westy’s. Through it all, she continues to live and love her life in music.
