Support Shelby County Schools’ 3rd Grade Commitment by bringing an approved children’s book to the Delta Fair in exchange for fair admission.
Shelby County Schools is partnering with the Delta Fair and Flinn Broadcasting Corporation to support the 3rd Grade Commitment, the District’s key initiative to improve early literacy. On Wednesday, September 4, bring an approved children’s book to the Delta Fair between the hours of 9 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. in exchange for fair admission.
Approved books are those that are a part of the “Commit 2 Literacy Challenge” bedtime story video series. While all new or gently used children’s books will be accepted, those on the approved book list are proven to target the specific literacy skills our students need most. Through the help of the bedtime story video series and by providing more access to books at home, students will be exposed to reading more consistently and can follow along with a reader to sharpen their own literacy skills.
Monetary donations are also accepted to support this effort through School Seed. All donations will go directly toward purchasing books for students in grades K-2.
